Flywheel holding tool

I've struggled to find a tool to hold the flywheel while working on the flywheel. I found this A/C clutch wrench at Princess Auto for $10 that has the same spacing as flywheel pulling bolt holes. It worked well as I pulled the flywheel off my 75hp. I was even able to hold the flywheel as I torqued it to 80 ft/lb.

Re: Flywheel holding tool

I usually just stick a big screwdriver between the screws. That looks like it will work well, but does not look like it will help when re-installing!

Dang it FR !!!! I knew I should have asked about a "strap wrench" - I spent $21.00 ordering one from Sears on-line:mad:, Well by golly I'll ask next time!;)

The strap wrench looks like it would have more leverage. My little tool takes a good arm to hold when tightening the nut. It works though.

I just pull a plug and feed some rope into the cylinder, then seat the piston against it...but you can never have enough tools.

Exactly what I did when I removed the flywheel.
