I need to replace a few wires under my fly wheel. I am down to the fly wheel but can't figure out how to remove the wheel. There are three bolt holes on the top of the the fly wheel. I imagine they are there to remove the fly wheel. Do you need a special tool to access these three holes. If so, should I just take the motor to the shop. Am I in danger of messing up the timing on the motor if I go any futher and actually remove the fly wheel. Is it difficult to get the motor back together if I proceed. Thanks

It depends on what year and hp motor you have. Do you have threads around the large hole in the center? If so that is where you screw the "puller" in that actually pushes against the crank shaft and pops off the flywheel. If you take the center hub off with the flywheel it should go back on the same way and not mess up the timing. If you take the circle of bolts out around the center and remove only the flywheel you can mess up the timing as there are many ways it can go back. Note' don't lay the flywheel on anything steel. There are magnets inside the wheel that can be damaged. " maybe seven hundred dollars for a new flywheel. I should have said the center hub is keyed or splined so it has to go on only one way. I hope this has shed some light on your questions. JERRY
