yes freshwater but not a stream just a lake. one thing i like about it, you don't have to carry a big tackle box enerything seems to be pretty compact.

Re: Fly Fishing

Been Fly fishing for 30 years. Most of mine now is in salt water for striped bass and blue fish give a darn good fight also. Fished a few places around the country for trout and fished in Canada for atlantic salmon.

Now a days the only time I fresh water fly fish is for a week in June. A few friends of mine and I go to New Hampshire and fish for brookies and rainbows on the Androscoggin River. We fish about a 10 mile stretch of the river from Berlin to Erroll.

Re: Fly Fishing

I got into the fly fishing (fresh water) about 6 years ago. Love it....lots of fun. The trolling aroudnd the lake with 15lbs of gear hanging out the back of the boat on a downrigger wasn't for me.
I prefer dry fly but I'm finding the wet has been more productive for me. Mostly I am targeting rainbow trout.
Great low hassle, reasonable cost pass time.

Re: Fly Fishing

Hi, I haven't caught anything yet but I've been buying fly's, small floating plugs and stuff. I've been watching the Fly Fishers on tv to learn more on fishing. I only fish lakes and ponds since they are only 10 to 15 min. drive from my home. My wife and I are planning a fishing trip this weekend to the coast for a couple of days. I'll let you guys know how we do. Al

Re: Fly Fishing

Make sure one of the lures you get is a leech. If nothing else is working...this usually will. They are a wet (sinking) fly and work best when 'pulled' or trolled. Give them an intermittent jerk when reeling them in.
That said, I always find the dry fly stuff gives a greater anticipation.
