I have a 2005 Bayliner 185 with a Merc 3.0 L and Alpha drive.

Since I bought it I have always flushed the engine after each use. I run in salt
and use salt terminator thru the RWC system. I use the two water drain hoses to flush the engine.

My question is as follows:

when I flush the engine with the water drain hoses does it circulate through the drive and flush it as well or do i have to flush the driver seperately using muffs?

thanks in advaqnce for your help.

I think you will get the best results useing the muffs to flush the whole unit with the drive down and the engine running

Please expalin how you use the 2 water drain hoses to flush the engine?

Is there a reason you don't use muffs?

Re: Flushing my 185 alpha drive

the 185 comes with two hoses one the port side of the engine with quick connectors.

One runs into the water jacket and the other also runs into the engine but i am not sure exactly which part. It also come with a garden hose adaptor.

The engine manual recomends running water thru these hoses to flush the RWC.

is this not right?

I do not care for OR trust the easy drain system

I have had to stick way to many probes in drain plugs to clear clogs
