Currently I am flushing my 4.3 MPI/alpha after every salt water use using muffs, (boat is moored in salt water), There must be an easier way, I read about adding a three way valve to the intake hose and dumping the water from impeller overboard and piping in a supply connection from garden hose but those hoses are not easily accessible in my boat. Could you add T fittings and female quick couplers to both sides of the thermostat and flush them independently with engine off.

If you are mooring the boat in salt water, wouldn't flushing after use be rather redundant? I would assume the salt water will be brought up into the system through the outdrive even though it is just sitting.

It will make its way in somewhat but I asume not through the entire engine and manifolds, the least amount of cast iron- salt water contact the better

Not 100% sure how your V-6 is set up but if you follow that hose it should go up to the intake manifold or circulating pump or someplace & perhaps you could access it better up at the top/front of the engine??? Just an idea. Jim.

that hose should go to the PS cooler on the port side of the motor and then run to the therm housing..got to be some room along that path
