Perhaps I'm missing something here, but what is the point of installing the flush kit AFTER the engine is blown?

BTW, what year Cobalt? Been to the owner's group on iboats yet?

Re: flush kit for volvo penta v8?

i need to figure out what happened but i want to get all the gunk out before i start working on it, so i was wondering if there was a kit that i can use to flush all the nasty gunk out before i start getting hands on. right now it would be like rebuilding a engine in a mud pit.

to answer your other question its a 1989 cobalt condurre 202 open bow. the boat has 800 hours on it and is i great shape. this was the first time i took it out and i only got to drive it for maybe 10 minutes before it started acting up. its a great boat and i really hope its nothing big and i am able to fix it.

Those flush kits are to flush the raw water cooling system of your engine, not the oil pan and lubrication side of the engine.

The reason you have water in your oil is most likely due to a cracked block in the engine.
Have a look at this thread.

thanks for the link! that will help out a lot! i was just seeing if there was anything out there that can be used to help me clean up all the oil/water mix that got into everything. i guess im just going to have to start with a compression test and if needed start tearing everything down and cleaning as i go. thanks again for everything.

Ayuh,... A Compression Test is irrevelant at this point,...

You have a Cracked block, probably from freezing last winter...
Pull the motor,+ find a New 1...
