On a 4.3lx Merc what is the "Drive oil" for?<br />I have power steering and its not that and its not hydraulic oil for the trim pump.

Gear lubrication. Same as the lower unit on an outboard.

Ok which gears? <br />I thought the lower leg had to be filled with a pump from bottom to top and therefore closed.

You do fill it the same way. They have that reservoir there so that you can keep an eye on levels and clarity. It's all connected.
