The Viking Starship departed Tarpon Springs on Friday night 01/21/05 for a 44 hr trip offshore to the Middle grounds. Photos can be seen on our website, www.vikingfleet.com. The Weather man called for a massive cold front to descend on us Sunday morning so we had some fast fishing to do before sun morning. The weather was very nice until Sunday morning 3am We had quality size snappers in 165 ft of water at the first stop with George Latakis catching many nice mangrove snapper along with a couple very nice mutton snapper. The jackpot winners were Vincent Eats from Albany NY with a slammer red grouper. Ron Louder a school teacher from Roosevelt NY caught a wopper of a mangrove snapper and George Latakis from Tarpon Springs took the amberjack pool. We fished the 200-240 ft range during the day being rewarded with many nice black grouper and amberjack. We ended the trip about 5 hrs early due to the weather but still managed a good catch of fish. <br />We'll be doing these trips every weekend until the end of May, keep an eye out for our reports.
