Float Plan

I've read some on some Coast Gaurd stuff, and one of the things they mention is to file a float plan with someone. Now everyone knows what a float plan is, but does anybody write one out? I'll be honost, I don't. If the wife and I decide to go to the lake for a few hours we up and go, no one knows where were at.

I do.. Don't necessarily write it down, but someone knows (fishing partners family, or my folks if i go it alone, or both).. I let em know the time when i head out, what inlet i'm going out of, some idea of where i'll be, and when i should be back.. <br /><br />I don't fool around in the atlantic ocean, especially being close to, and fishing in, the gulf stream current most of the time i'm out...
