I have an oil leak and it appears to be leaking from the float bowl gasket. Looking at boats.net and iboats it calls for 2 gaskets for #16, Gasket, float bowl. Does anyone have any idea why it would call for 2 gaskets?

They do some strange things with quantities, sometimes they list quantities needed for the entire engine, sometimes for a subassembly. Just for giggles I looked up your engine on shop2.evinrude dot com and it lists 2 float valves but only 1 spring retainer clip.

Review the parts book.------It lists one carburetor assembly for port and one carburetor assembly for startboard.-----Thus you need 2 gaskets for what they list as 1 carburetor assembly.

I just went thru this with my 94 175 motor, it was the plastic float bowls that were warped and leaking. It was hard to see with the bowls mounted but obvious as all get out after they were removed. Be sure to take a good look at yours.

Where the port bowl is located it is very hard to see the exact spot it is leaking from. I ordered a gasket and will look closely at the bowl itself when I take it apart. Thanks for the tip.
