Took delivery of my first baitcast reel Wednesday. Well, I won't count the old baitcaster hand-me-down that I used in the 50's. I enjoyed the hints below on how to learn baitcasting. I'll try them out this weekend.

My question is how to use the Flippin Switch. I got a Quantum KVD signature (Accurist variant) reel. The instructions ignore this feature. Any suggestions??

Re: Flippin Switch

I had one...let's you release however much line you want and re-engage the spool without touching the handle - leaves your left hand free for controlling the line.

Here's an article that describes how to flip.

All my reels now, you can re-engage the spool by pushing the thumb bar up. Main thing is, don't forget the flip switch is engaged when you try to make a regular cast...unless you want to give your partner a good laugh...
