flat bottom hull id

Hello I'm new here. my question I have is I recently bought my deceased fathers flatbottom boat from his wife. I cannot find a hull id tag Anyware on the boat. I have the title for the boat and bill of sale. t is an 87 model, and everyone says the tag should be on right side of transom. is there anywhere else the tag might be. if not, how do I get registration it in my name without hull number
