flashing hot display light

I have a 1999 polaris slth 700 pwc 95 h.p. 2 stroke. I have not run it for a while (1 mo.) the hot engine light came on while i was riding the other day, after i stopped the motor, it stopped flashing. The next day the same thing happened again. Now it in my driveway on the trailer and the light is still flashing 8 hours later??? What could it be? the display sencer, or something with the engine? The engine run fine when the light it flashing. Help.... Joe

probably a clogged cooling hose to the engine// or exhaust or just a bad sensor// all are common,, I use a non contact thermometer to see where things are running hot,, if the head and exhaust systems are not hot you probably need a new sending unit,, I had one that did that all he time but I could put my hand on the head and it was just warm, turned out to be a bad sending sensor.
I did just have a exhaust cooling line get clogged and my exhaust was running warm enough to trigger the check engine warning on one of my 4 tec sea doos,, I undid the line at the exhaust pipe and blew back in the hose clearing out the stuff that was in there,, that solved the problem
