There was a flash flood that took out the fuel dock amongst other things at Calville Bay yesterday..

Posted by National Park Service about 30 min ago:

CALLVILLE BAY: is closed to all visitors for at least the next couple of days including slip renters and trailer village renters. No electricity at Callville. NO PRIVATE BOATS WERE DAMAGED.
ECHO BAY: Low water ramp closed, Marina and all other services open.
TEMPLE BAR: OPEN
HEMENWAY HARBOR/LAS VEGAS BOAT HARBOR: OPEN.

Here is a pic before the flash flood at Calville, and 2 more taken yesterday

Re: Flash Flood at Lake Mead

Friends of mine have a slip there. No damage to their boat, but they were there when it happened (the pics I posted were theirs). They were stuck at Calville for a day due to the road washing out. They're back home safe now.

Here's an aerial video of the aftermath:

Re: Flash Flood at Lake Mead

I watched that string of storm cells walk across the park Monday (NWS radar) and sure glad I wasn't out on the water when that stuff hit. A lot of it ran through the mountains to the west which caused the flash flooding, but the lake where I usually go got it pretty good too, Echo.

The park floods more often than most think. I remember Willow Beach getting flooded 3 times over the past 10+ years, the last time sediment buried vehicles past the frame, clogged the ramp, water logged the store. I saw it a day or 2 later and Calville looks much worse. Nelson's Landing was flooded back in the 70's, killing 5-10 people and washing everything (marina, hotel, vehicles, etc) into Lake Mohave. A storm cell stalled out over the mountains and sent a 20-30' wall of water down the wash... Supposedly, if you have side-imaging sonar you can find the stuff from Nelson's sitting at the bottom of Mohave. Willow Beach is being rebuilt to prevent flood damage in the future,,, Nelson's landing is permanently closed, respectfully so.
