Re: Fla easT coast to west coast

About a dozen times for me. In a 65'er I would run 10kts in the ditch (local speak) and 25 kts across the Okeechobee Ocean (more local speek). Between Stuart and Ft Myers was about a 14 hour ride. A stop at Roland Martin's Fishcamp (local hangout) on the west side of Okeechobee for lunch is a must.

We went from Stuart to Roland Martin's in a 43' Black Thunder a couple times averaging 60kts. Burned alot of fuel, but certainally didn't take long.

As of last week we locked thru Stuart which was only an 8 foot rise heading west.

If your in Stuart, frfly, give me a shout by PM.

I guess you have heard about me, Richard. I used to cross the ditch every fall from my return trip to the Great Lakes. Not so much anymore. A couple boats here at the marina want to make the trip this summer, I will probably join in. I enjoy the stay at the Municipal Marina in Ft. Myers. It's just a short walk to the quaint little sidewalk cafe's in town.
