I am Danish and have spend most of my life fishing and learning the tricks over there. Now I live on the Florida Spacecoast and it's like starting all over again. My 18ft will soon be ready and I want to catch big fish :) (Big fish in Denmark were slightly bigger than the bait we use over here). I have seen the boats in Cape Caneveral come in with Tunas. That would be a big dream comming true catching a tuna. Can I catch them within 5 - 10 miles off shore? And one more thing, how do I do? Are the caught with downrigger and what is the bait? Are there any good places online where I can learn about fishing here in FL?

Regards
Michael

I honestly don't know much about the east coast fishing of Florida. We are on the west coast ICW and Gulf, BUT -- Florida is great. Everyone is friendly and willing to pass on information. Head for the ramps and marinas and ASK. Most anyone will be happy to fill you in. Good Luck

Welcome to Florida. Fishing is wonderful over there. I live in Orlando butI try to get over there as much as possible. For Tuna, you have to go out about 30 miles. Thats about where the Gulf Stream runs. The further south u go. The closer it runs to shore. But there are plenty of King Mackerel and Dolphin and other things that will give you a good fight I'm sure. Have you been Redfishing yet. Mosquito lagoon is THE spot for Big Redfish. I bet u would enjoy that also. Enjoy !!

Go to Http://www.dogpile.com and do a search for florida Saltwater fishing forums.

You will find plenty of good sites.

Before you go offshore saltwater fishing though, take a Coast Guard Safety course. You will meet many people there that can give you the advice you need.

Re: FL Spacecoast fish.

Thanks for all the good advices.
James, The first fish I caught over here was a Redfish at Sebastian inlet. It was from land though, but a great experience. I didn't even know what kind of fish it was when I caught it :) It was 26" and gave a good fight. My wife got a 25" (thank god) :) about 30 minutes later.
Do you say that the King Mackerel and Dolphin are closer to land than the Tunas?
30 miles is a bit to much for my boat.
I will try to do some searching for Florida fishing.
