Hi all, I found a video on YouTube where a guy uses a special tip screw driver(looks like a flathead) for taking out the fixed orfice on a 1976 johnson 6hp. I know evinrude makes one but id rather not have to spend $50. I put the link to the video and he shows it at 3:13. If anyone knows of a substitute or knows where I can find a tool like this please let me know... Big thanks

I used to make and sell some, but no longer do. It is surprisingly difficult to make a screwdriver. If you want to have a go at it, start with a screwdriver with a (exactly) 3/16" round shank. Cut off the end, square. Now grind or file two flats. This is important and what makes it "special"---The flats must be parallel to each other. If tapered like an ordinary screwdriver, they will tend to spread the soft brass orifice plug, making it harder than ever to remove. Or impossible.

You might also find a 3/16" hollow ground screw driver works.

Here are some OMC ones. Except the stubby one is one I made for removing the jets on a V-4 without removing the carburetor.

My home made special tools, left to right: piston stop to check TDC timing mark, jet wrench, piston ring clip pusher. Cost approaching $0.

I use a pair from a gunsmith set, they have nice solid shafts, and the tip is flat and perfect for the jets.
