You need to know how far apart the lugs are. There are 5 on 4.5, 5 on 4.75, 5 on 5, etc. The most common size for trailers is 5 on 4.5, which is the same as most Jeeps.

5 on 4 1/2" is the older Rear wheel drive car wheel pattern used by Ford,+ Dodge.........

to find out What size of bolt center you have, Measure the outside of one of your studs to the middle of the furthest on away from that, my bet says 4 1/2. as for 15" wheels, a pretty safe size is ST205/75R15 Load Range "C" on a 15x6x5 wheel, these should be good for about 1600lbs

In all likelyhood they are the typical 545 hubs (5 lugs on 4.5 inch centers, as already noted). These are often called the "Small Ford" pattern, for a good reason.

Thom

The reason i asked is I have some new 225/75R15 tires on 1985 buick rear wheel drive wheels and wondered if they would work, my trailer is about 50 miles away and one of the tires is shot i was needing to get it home to work on it

guess i'll just have to drive down there and see if they will fit, if not then measure and get some different wheels, just wanted to save a 100 mile round trip to find out. :D

Just don't plan on using car tires on a boat trailer. Many, many previous posts have been written on this topic. Trailers require either ST bias ply tires or the Goodyear Marathon radials.

jack up your trailer you have now, take off the hubs and wheels and bring em with you, if the hubs are the same size , your in business

Trouble is all the boat trailers I have are four lug hubs, guess i could pull the hubs off the one bearings and all, and hope it fits the late model axel under the other trailer.

Bass Runner,

There is virtually no chance that it will fit. Almost all 4 bolt hubs that I know of are 4-bolt on 4-inch centers and they all use 1" ID bearings (part number 44643) along with inch and a quarter seals. There are some very very few 5 lug hubs that use straight 1" bearings but the only one I've ever seen was on an old utility trailer we had 20 years ago which was also quite distinguishable in that it had screw-in greas caps.

Thom

Re: Five lug hubs????What Wheel????

I would almost bet that the buik wheel won't work. Most trailers use a ford pattern. I replaced a hub due to an "issue" I had while towing. The place gave me the chevy pattern at first, and when I went to put the whell on, no dice.

I would say get new hubs, and a couple wheels and tires, and repack the bearings while you are at it. If one tire has blown due to dry rot, I would bet the grease is no good, and I would not want to tow it for 100+ miles on a bad set of bearings.

Re: Five lug hubs????What Wheel????

After i got it home i pulled the hubs, the bearings looked like new and the grease was still good in them and the bearing buddies are both ok, the trailer is a mid 90's factory trailer for a bass boat style hull, i guess i'll have to hit the salvage yards and find some ford wheels, would you happen to know it i need to look for a large body or like a escort for the wheels?

How are you measuring that 5 on 4 1/2" between the lug centers? Where does the 5 come in? Maybe I am measuring it wrong, I was measuring between the lug holes 2 1/2".

Re: Five lug hubs????What Wheel????

Well I've looked at some salvage yards for ford or dodge and all i have found is 14" with the right bolt pattern, does anyone know if they even made 15" in this bolt pattern? Kind of looking for a needle in a haystack.
