I need advice on how to fit a new shift rod/handle on my 1983 Mercury 4hp. The rod has broken and is missing, I can't see or get to the area due to it being enclosed both from the bottom and the top. So what is the best way of attacking this problem? Do I need to take off the whole powerhead, just to get to the right area?
