Hello.
I bought my first sailboat this week. Got such a steal on it I didn't care if the motor ran or not as I'm going to put a new 4-stroke on it anyway. I'm going to put the new motor off till next year and decided to use this motor till I got all the funds for the new one.
The motor is a Tohatsu 50 2 stroke. It runs good but when I hooked the ear-muffs to it I don't see any water coming out of it. The seller said everything worked fine a year ago but has been in storage since. (I only ran the motor for about 15 seconds at idle. I could hold my hand constantly on the head, it was probably 85 degrees warm)
My question is what do I need to do to get water to flow through the motor or how can I check to make sure everything is working alright? Is there a thermostat that I need to wait 5 minutes to open for the water to flow through or should it start coming out the hole immediately? (I assume the latter...)
Thanks for anyones help on this as the owners manual is not really specific when it comes to the cooling system on this model.
