We're set to fish there this weekend. Going for Stripers. First time on Smith Lake, wondering what to expect? Anyone fish there before, would like to hear about it.

Spent last week there, water still 74-76 degrees Bass not up shallow yet. Only caught 4LM and 1 Striper in back coves. LOTS of bait though in the coves.

Marking MANY fish betwen 20 - 60 ft but did not get any downrigging.

My 1st time there. Locals say the Stripers come into the coves early November.

It's SOOOO BIG and so many places to fish you realy need to find out from locals Where, When and How.

Let me know how you do.

I'm going bacj for two weeks next year. And yes it's beautiful.

Went with a guide for the weekend, 5 of us limited out (two per person) on stripers both days. Caught 18 the first day, and 12 the second day, including a nice sized smallie, (we kept) and a 4+ pound "green carp" (large mouth) we threw back. Had two pushing 27" only caught a few under the 20" limit. All in all a great outing.
