Re: Fishing

welcome sweet16, I use night crawler 90% of the time. When I fish I do it to relax and as long as I'm catching fish I'm happy. I'm not a great fisherman but I catch fish and have fun doing it.

Re: Fishing

You are going to have better luck with live bait than with fake. You can catch fish with lures but live bait will almost always win out. What type of fish are you fishing for? Certian species react better to different kinds of lures.

Re: Fishing

We need to know where, what kind of species, what type of water, etc. It is nice to hear that someone new is deciding to take part. Recruiting and retention is key to the future of angling.

Hot Rod - fishing is all about what makes YOU feel good, not what other people say. Go with crawlers. Your grandfather, as was mine and I'm 62 years old, was right until proven wrong. It's true that artificals probably catch as many or more fish than naturals but that's not the point. You need to fish to please yourself, not other critics.

Re: Fishing

Worms, minnows, leeches, all have there place. If prefer to just fish and relax its great way to fish. On slow days maybe another presentation is needed. Move alot and try different presentations. This includes fake lures such as plastic worms, crank baits, spinners etc.
I know people who never use live bait. Why? Don't know. Maybe they like the idea of fooling the fish.
Up here in Minnesota the hot summer months are hard times to fish. Many bait fish are around so fish don't have to bite. Spring and Fall are different stories so I tend to use live bait then and do alot of artifical stuff during the summer.
As one of my fishing mentors always said. "Give the fish what they want, not what you think they should have". Have fun and good fishing.
