Art came over the mountain yesterday to fish my nearby lake. I have fished this lake since they closed the gates on the new dam. This was my big chance to show off my angling abilities on a lake he had never been on before. End result was he caught more than I did by a ratio of at least 12/1. I am not sure how many he caught but I know I caught one.

All in all it was a great day with beautiful fall weather with great conversation and companionship. Would do it again and maybe I could even land two fish. And I didn't sink my new to me boat.

Thanks for driving 70 miles to spend the day Art.

This is the ultimate definition of being a gracious host by letting the guest catch most of the fish.. Getting skunked would have been embarrassing! :D Sinking the boat - Mortifying.

Art is such a nice guy, he'll say he wasn't counting. Sounds like a great day on the water. :fish2:

I am not sure how many he caught but I know I caught one.

Might consider your diet, meds and what you touch whole fishing.

I fish w my dad infrequently, but find that as he ages, I outfish him by quite a bit. We've discussed it repeatedly over the last 4 or 5 yrs. As a kid, be tended the boat, me and both our fishing gear, so not surprising I caught more then he did (or he let me). As a 20s-40s yr old son, w him in his 40s-60s, we both tended our own and caught roughly the same.

Once he had a bypass, a stint or 2, 2 new knees and a few additional/different meds, its been a noticeable change. Even w the same amount of time w a line wet & me occasionally tending his gear/bait, its a fairly large gap in # of fish in the boat, on the dock or from the shore depending on where we are.

The only time I noticed it w me around others is the 1 ICW trip I took w my boss and his son. Sweated like a beast and re-applied sunscreen, washed my habds as best I could and I still didnt get a single bite the rest of the trip, they landed quite a few. Changed bait, switched to libe shrimp and still nada.....

Plan to test my theory out in NC at the beach in 10days for 2weeks. Come on next Thurs midday...

Good to hear ya had a good time anyway and got to meet up w Art.

What is it they say?
a bad day fishing is still better then a good day working

I had a trip to Erie yesterday so no time to get on to iboats till now. Had a great time with DWC! He is a gracious host and certainly angled the boat so I had the best casting lanes into the "hot spots." It was a fun time on a beautiful impoundment, the sun was shining, temps were chilly to start but climbed into the 70's with a light breeze ... who cares if fish were caught or not, it was a great day with great company. BTW, I was slightly worried because until he landed one he kept mumbling about throwing me overboard, and with his history in the military and law enforcement, I was concerned that even at his age, he could still do it! I breathed a sigh of relief when he hooked and landed a monster (all 6 inches of it, but who is counting ... notice neither of us said how big the fish were that I caught:whistle:).
