Summer is starting to sizzle out on the water, and was considering a Bimini top to give us some cover. But with the struts holding it up, makes me think the hardware would get in the way for fishing. Thoughts ?? My boat is a 12 footer, and the top I'm considering is 95" long.

We love out bimini top, it is was OEM. But out boat is 19 feet fo length so there is plenty of aft deck available for fish fighting or other activity. But, yeah, it can get in the way, that is why the hardcore fishing only guys have T tops to provide 360 degree fishability and still offer some limited sun protection.

Depends. Drop and plop for catfish, soaking bait for halibut, not so much. Fly fishing for trout, throwing irons for pelagics, more so.

What kind of fishing? I’m thinking about a Bimini for my 17’ center console (it’s just too small, IMO, for a fixed T-Top of any worthwhile size. Might also get the Mrs. more interested.)

Most times I’m solo and fishing out the back of the boat, so I’m thinking about mounting it “backwards”—as in, fold down frontwards, support poles front and straps back. I want to believe that in that way, if the bite goes off, I can unclip two straps and throw the thing forward and (somewhat) out of the way.
