And the vacation restfull even though a bearing went out in the truck and might cost me a new rear end ( I had to pull off into the closest parking lot even though grinding metal to be safe and off the road no shoulder). We were able to get it towed home for $50 and started out agian in the van the next day. I caught a trout of about 1 1/2# on a gold ribbed hares ear nymph as well as a bunch of other smaller fish. Also to top it off they had a kids (0-11years) fishing derby on Saturday and my kids any myself were filmed by ESPN watching and listening to Marty Fourkiller so we may be on TV. I will post the times later. Also my daughter(6) won 3rd place in her division(6 and 7 year olds) with a 16.8oz trout and my other daughter(7 1/2) was the only child to catch a naitive brown trout. Both filled thier card with 5 trout each all but 2 released alive one due to a deep hooking and the other mishandling at weigh in (it was dropped by an official). It was great with all the pre registered kids (400) getting a shirt and hat with kellogs providing an overabundant breakfast and lunch being hot dogs and sundries. The top 3 grand prizes given by drawing were 2 computer outfits and a go cart for grand. There was hundreds of other things given away from 100 rod and reels for the first 100 kids to bicycles, skateboards and filled tackleboxes. I would recomend if you are thinking about going to the mountians check out the Cherokee website and looking for the trout derby next year I know we will.
