With 51 degree water the bass will be as deep as possible and not to aggressive. I would fish a jig/pig or plastic worm, slow retrieve (up & down) and work the deepest part of the lake. Depending on the bottom and cover i would Carolina rig a 6" worm with a small slip sinker. Spry it with a scent spray, and be patient!

Purse snatcher's got it right. The trick is definately a slow presentation. The fish will not move to hit your bait. You will have to put it in front of them and keep it there. If the worms and jigs aren't workin' try slow rolling a spinner in the same fashion as you would work your jig.( up and down..slow slow slow)
Boy I sure wish is was 61 degrees up here...I'd be hittin the bucket mouths myself. Couple more weeks.

now is the time for inland freshwater fishermen to be getting the biggest, baddest fish! you should be trying some live bait in the canals & deep pockets, like shiners/shad/etc... let em go freeline from middle of bay...they'll find cover.

tellus about the depths of this 'pond'. the S.GA ponds were sometimes misnamed, like the one behind the I-75South rest area, in TwinLakes GA, called 'Ocean Pond'. i haven't asked my friends who fish it, but i'd say its @ 70acres. in cities, a lake is only 1acre, in rural places, a pond is <10acres...

Heck, tell me the location and I will help catch some of those fish.

Try a jig or a worm with a slow presentation.

ok the rural lake is about 4 acres. also its not like a big pond. the water surrounds the island for instance kinda like gilligans island water all around and a island in middle. water about 20 foot deep. stumps logs moss hydrilla cat tails everywhere all around it.
