Good Evening,
I am trying to work the CT river up by the Middletown area and the Thames River down by the mouth and just near the shore for Long Island sound in Connecticut. Any one here have a good knowledge of this area? Reciently we worked the rail road bridge pillars and the pillars for the GoldStar bridges for I-95 looking for Scup (porgies) and managed to catch a few but a lot of Sea Robins. We used #5 porge hooks and a little weight and squid. Looking to move upwards for Blues and Strippers. Smaller boat so all the help we can get would be appreciated. I've allways fished, but its been along time since Ive worked the Thames and brand new to the Connecticut River.... especially just north of the Middletown bridge. What do I hope to get up there besides mosquito bites.... something to give a good fight. Supposibly there is large carp and other big fish there.
That is all new to me.
Let me know your ideas if you too fish or have fishes these places.

Joe
