Fishing Sooke

We are going down island(Vancouver Island that is) on Saturday and I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on where and with what bait at what depth has been working lately. We are after any Springs that may still be around and some Coho. The guy I am fishing with his boat,knows the area but hasn't fished there for several years. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

well its too late now, but otter point and secretary have been holding some big springs, also go out into the shipping lanes to get the coho and pinks. <br />So how did it go anyway?

We started in close at Secretary and trolled all morning with only 1 hit that we missed-drat! Then we went out to the shipping lanes and caught some coho(kept 2 hatchery fish).<br /> We went again this weekend and went staight out to the shipping lanes and had lots of action with coho (kept 2 hatchery fish again). We had a bit of action with a white sided dolphin though. There were about 20 dolphins playing in our bow wave (we were trolling at about 3 knots)when all of a sudden all hell brakes loose-a dolphin had caught on the downrigger cable-peeled off 150 ft of cable and circled the boat with the cable before snapping the cable off at the weight. We were very lucky that it didn't tear the downrigger right off the boat. That sure livened things up!
