Fishing Sanibel Fl

Does anybody know of some good areas to fish around Sanibel? My dad and I are going to take the boat out there for our first time and I don't want to spend the day just looking for places. My dad wants to troll and I would like to know if this is a good area to troll and what bait should be use? We are going to leave out at about 4am and play around for awhile and come back in. Any input would be great.

Launching in the dark around Sanibel can be hazardous if you don't know the waters in the area. Lots of shoals and sand bars. There is some good fishing around Ding Darling (reds, snook), your best bet is around the mangroves on an incoming tide, follow the baitfish, as the tide comes in it pushes the bait to the mangroves. The reds and snook hide in the mangroves waiting to ambush whatever swims by. Live shrimp and pinfish would be my first choice.
