Popping rods were originally designed for casting live bait (mainly shrimp), under a popping cork out on the flats, but when freshwater anglers have found umpteen other uses for them as well. These rods have a relatively soft tip, which allows your bait to land softly and quietly, even on long casts, another plus when the water?s skinny and the fish spook easily. At the same time, they?re powerful rods, capable of handling surprisingly large fish. They come in a variety of lengths for different applications. The top four guides and tip-top feature oversized rings to handle large knots for shock tippets. Great rods for great fish.

Ok, Thanks For The Info. I Take It Then, That A Poppig Rod Is Made From A Popping Blank That Is A Medium Fast, And That It Has Larger Guides Near The Tip ? Is This Right. The Reason I Ask Is That I Have One That I Purchased A Long Time Ago That I Realy Like. Recently I've Been Making My Own Rods And I'd Like To Make One. Jann's Netcraft Has One In Its Catalog Its A G-loomis And Its Advertized As A Popping Blank. But There Is Other Blanks Not Advertized As Popping With The Same Caracteristics, 7 Foot Med Fast Etc. I Take It Then THAT There Is No Difference Between The Two. Is This Correct ?

Probably not. Lots of manufactures will have identical blanks listied in several different category's, IE-- casting, spinning, musky so on and so forth. Loomis makes a nice blank no doubt. But they are WAY over priced. Try looking at some of the batson products. Rainshadow/forcast blanks. They have a nice selection of popping blanks. Their RX7 and rx8+ blanks can not be beat for sensitivity. Lifetime warrenty. I have built many rods on these blanks. Not trying to be a salesman , just trying to save ya some $$$
