I got into a discussion with a guy down on the lake last night. It seems to be evident and agreeable the amount of folks coming to fish the lake is down presumably due to the price of gas. On the other hand he indicated the lakes with electric only motor restrictions are getting more fishing pressure and therefore making these lakes harder to fish for the guys that usually frequent them.

I haven't fished many ristriced lakes this year to comment intelligently but find it hard to convince myself this makes a huge difference since many still use electric trolling motors on lakes without restrictions. I'm thinking it may be more likely that those wanting to exercise an opportunity to fish electric only restricted lakes have a more compelling reason to give them a try.

Therefore, I decided to throw the topic out to fellow i boaters to see if using your trolling motor more has influenced your decision to fish more lakes with motor restrictions......Please share your thoughts.

I agree with ya. Responses to a similar question on my local fishing board were overwhelmingly about saving on truck gas rather than boat gas, and so fishing closer to home in order to drive shorter distances.

Not at all. I choose my lakes based what I want to do there and the distance to the lakes. I'm not going to let gas prices limit me while I'm out on the lake. Since I'm generally fishing, I'm not using the gas motor for very long anyhow, Like jt said, I'm opting to fish lakes that a closer to home. But, I am planning a couple of longer trips to some good fall lakes. I fish both restricted and unrestricted lakes and I haven't noticed a difference from last year in regards to fishing pressure.
