Back round for those who didnt see my other post a few months ago.
Until about a year ago he only owned three tools.
A hammer, saws all and drill.
He figured if it couldn't be done with one of them, it just didn't need to be done! :D

Well with retirement comming this year he decieded to get into wood working as a hobby.

His first project was a little wheel barrow flower pot holding thing. About 18" long and a foot high.
He followed the plans and bought the exact wood they said to buy.
Weeks later and well over a hundred dollars he finished it. I posted pics here and we (him included) got a good laugh at the price.
It's the little thing on the left.

April 06 his wife shows him a picture of a arbor and asked if might be able to build one like it.
Here is the pic

I think it is pretty darn good.
But here is the amazing one. Mind you that he has also built his own work bench and several other small things. OK work bench was a Biggie! :)

In May 06 his wife buys some plans for a flower pot / bench. Arrrg them dern plans again! ;)

Here are the results as of yesterday.
The dark boards are Spanish cedar, very spendy
but he wanted to use them for accent.
I think he desivers a big ADDA-BOY!
Went from not knowing how to use a table saw 6 months ago to making some pretty stuff!

What do you think?

I think you could have bought the wheel barrow thingie cheaper but boy is that bench/planter beautiful! Now you need to build a deck to set the bench on. Nice work!

when Dad cleraed the land we I grew up on (100 acres) i saved all the southern aromic ceders and had them rough cut and dried. I then built a cedar chest for my sister, my sister in-laws and one for my wife all from the wood on the land where we were raised. each chest has its own ser.# and documents the woods history. each of them turned out flawless. sorry no pics.
if you ever work with aromic cedar use a reporator,

I thought it would be pretty cool to do that.
