The fishing opener is tomorrow (5/9) in minnesota.

I'm fairly new to the area and looking for some hot fishing spots.
I've only been to cedar lake down in the prior lake area.
Looking for some more places to try.

Any recommendations ?

thanks.

Re: fishing opener in minnesota

My family and I have been going to Bowens Lodge on Lake Winnibigoshish ( Big Winnie) for about 15 years. My wife being a teacher, we have always gone in late July. However, I've always wanted to go for the opener because I've heard the walleye fishing is fantastic! Winnie adjoins a smaller lake, Cut Foot Sioux and it?s my understanding the walleye move from Winnie to Cut Foot through a narrow gap concentrating the fish in a relatively small area. Sounds good to me. Bowens Lodge is run by Bill and Gail Heig and their two boys, Dane and Jens. Bill?s father Bob just passed away this past year. You couldn?t find a finer family or resort in Northern Minnesota. If you ever go, tell them the McDade?s sent you. The link to Bowens is http://www.bowenlodge.com/welcome.shtml.
