Hello, RJ here. When I retire, I plan on doing what I did as a child growing up in Erie Pa. Fishing. a lot. With a boat this time. I hope to be the old man I dreamed of being as a 12 year old. None of that fishing from a pier or from shore. I'll be on the lake, going to where the fish are. Except the nearest walleye are west of Erie, in Ohio. Does the Pa. Fishing license with a Great Lakes stamp allow you to fish outside of your state line on the lake? Thanks for sharing info... RJ

Re: Fishing on the Great Lakes question..

I looked for my regulation book but only found last year's... they are probably the same anyway. I am under the impression that the license with lake erie permit is only good on PA water. It says in the book that there are agreements with other states on boundary waters but does not mention lake erie. "NO OTHER AGREEMENTS have been made on any other boundary waters".

Your best bet is to call up the Fish and Boat Commission and let them answer your question. Hope it helps... and welcome to iboats!

It is cheaper to by a non resident Canadian Catch & Release sport license, than to buy a non resident NY license.

Guess where I fish & catch more fish.

Thanks to the military survaillance drones. All documents are needed. Beats the motor boat squad any day.

Last I checked NY had agreements with Ontario, Vermont, Conn., NJ, and Penn. We/they could fish in shared waters. Unless the law has changed for 2012. I asked both a NYS DEC officer, and an oswego county deputy, and both gave me this answer.
