Good to get your PM T2F.
I thought I may have put up some shots of the Lure factory long-way back.
As you blokes are still enjoying the white wonders of nature, this should keep you from annoying your old sheila for a while.

Anyway this is where the brother makes those lures. He is in the Sth Island of NZ, and caters for fresh water fish. He does not fish?.at all?..never has?.but our younger brother is an expert and can catch fish where others can?t.
I digress.

#1. This is the small township, not to far from the mountains, and they get snow too.

#2. He bought the old butchers shop maybe 30yrs back, and turned it in to a factory. Then bought the Coal Yard behind him which was industrial.

#3 He does retail the lures he manufactures, but he is actually a Manufacturer that will produce and package under customers brand names. He sold in to a US Lure Manufacturer who sold thru Cabellas for years?may still do so.

#4. This is the main reason for the store. He collects all old gear and displays it. People bring it to him as though he was a museum saying ?this belonged to grandad and I don?t want to sell it etc.

#5. Same again, but here he throws in old stock he finds out the back that may have been made by him years back.

#6 and 7. Rods and posters are the same.

#8. This is one of his ranges?.many years old?and he uses this as his reference for colour mixing and all detail (he paints everything by hand?everything is done by eye and memory.) He chromes, silver plates, black nickels etc.

#9. This is the paint booth.

He gets people coming in with real old silver tea services etc wanting him to restore etc, plus all the jewellers who may mistakes get him to repair them. I remember years back, a beautiful set of silver goblets, fantastically engrave for some momentous anniversary ?Uncle Margret and Aunty Robert?, (can't recall exact names, but you get the idea.)and he had to sort it out.

He uses brass rod and plate. Rod is hexagonal in different sizes. He cuts the lures off the rod on a very sharp angle?they get rumbled, hand polished, drilled, plated, painted, mounted. The plate is used for spoons and beetles etc.

It is a quality hand made product so he knows that in the long run the mass producers of cheap throw-aways will over-run him.

So you can see how your T shirt will fit in if mounted properly.

He is also in to old American cars, in a very big way.
The attic in the factory is full of dash-boards he has refurbished over the past 30-40 yrs, and he wants to mount them 'up' on one wall of the new shop...he reckons there are a lot old old chicks who will remember them quiet clearly from that angle.

I will post some other old vehicle memorabillia later.

Cheers
Phillip

Please try to keep pix to 640X480, Phil. Many folks can't see the whole page without scooting it sideways.

Cool pix. I, too, like old stuff. :)

Nice pics and a great story to go with them.

As far as picture size, go into your photobucket account and when you "hover" over the picture you want to copy, click "link options".

Then under the "IMG for bulletin boards & forums" , enable "Clickable thumbnail ".

Then you can have nice size pictures that show up smaller for the small screen folks and all you ( the people looking ) need to do is click on the thumbnail for the full size picture.

That way everyone is happy. :D

Hi phill

In the second picture of the rods. There is some rods on the light fixtures. The forth one over looks to be a split cane bamboo rod. It looks just like the one I have in the back room. I was eye balling the wooden reels in the first pictures to go with it. Cool

T2F:
Guess you can see your T-Shirt mounted on the wall
"So Many Lures.........So Little Time". Should fit in well.
I certainly didn't have it in mind when you sent it tho. Just occured to me later.

CN Spots:
Good to hear from you. Been a while.

Kerry:
I am real ignorant on the rods and reels. Brother buys for me from importers etc when I need something. He stands real close when he is serious, and says, "you tell me what you are doing, and I'll get what you need. You don't need to know anything else."

Got to fly. Got an e-mail and picture from Tim F. today and got to get a reply back.

Cheers
Phillip
