Re: Fishing in OH

Where is Lake Shaun? NE Ohio? How big is it and what are the HP limits?

I fish mostly in Caesars Creek Lake in SW Ohio. It's about 4 or 5 miles long and 110 feet deep at the dam. They were catching some really big Muskies around downed trees this past summer. Some nice saugeyes and large mouth bass are also caught.

Oddly enough, Caesars Creek, the stream before the lake went up in the late 70's, was one of the best smallie waters in Ohio. I haven't caught or ever heard of anyone catching a smallie since then!

I plan on going out in April in hopes of finding some hungry fish. Just have to watch out for some really huge downed trees (30 - 40 footers) that float in the lake that time of the year. They get blown around from one end to the other for quite a while. It usually takes until early June before the trees and logs seem to find a permanent home somewhere along the banks.

Re: Fishing in OH

Lake shawn is in mid ohio almost on the WV boarder. It is a private lake, so you have to pay to fish there. They only run electric motors. But the boat and motor is included. We got back from Maui in mid Jan. Charted a boat there ($$$$$) and caught a bunch of nice tuna. Now we have the bug for the big fish. I found lake shawn on the web last summer but never got a chance to go. Never been there but it looks like good fishing. Just search lake shawn on the internet. or put a www in front of it. I dont really want to promote some ones else sight on here. Because I never been there.
My wife and I are going the first week of june. So Ill let you know how it goes.

Almost said i have fished them all. Now I can say i have not. Mainly fishn the big four,Alum,Clearfork,Saltfork and Piedmont when I hunt for the gator. I could see my 17' Starcraft with two back engines in rear tooling around on that lake with my front trolling motor.

I live in Northeast Ohio. I normaly fish the local lakes up here. West Branch, Misqutio etc... I live on a lake called Brady lake. People say its private but its not. Its good for Bass and cats. You can use google maps to see it. Just look for Kent ohio and youll see it.

Patrickray,

There are certainly a boatload of lakes where you live. Are you connected in some way to Rockwell Lake or the ones around Brady? Is there anything in it, or is it a drinking water res? I couldn't see any public dock in the Google Earth.
