Re: Fishing in north carolina

Lots of good fishing in that area, fresh, salt or brackish. I hear surf and pier fishing is pretty good now. Talk to the local tackle/bait shops and they can give you alot of info and advice on bait, tackle and what folks are catching now. If you have a boat you have alot of options for fishing around Wilmington. Do get a license and regulation book as there are restrictions on most all fish for size and number that you can keep legally. The NCDMF has alot of officers along the coast who will issue you expensive citations for non-legal fish, You can get a fine for each illegal fish you don't release. If you can afford it there are alot of professional guides that can take you fishing from the rivers to the gulf stream and put you on the fish, and maybe teach you a few of their secrets to catching different species. Also if you have a 4wd there are beaches you can drive on and surf fish at Carolina Beach and Fort Fisher.
