Re: Fishing Hotspot maps

I'm not sure who makes 'the best' .. but the lake maps I don't like are the 3D maps from Mapping Specialists.

personaly, I think I could map better with a down rigger, pad of paper and pencil then some of theirs I've seen..

..its a sarcastic take on it but, hey whatya want for free :)

Knowing what not to buy is a good step in finding out who makes the best.

Thanks for the information.

Hotspots here are fairly reliable start. They only show a three foot contour but at least they give a good start on learning the larger lakes as far as bars points humps etc.

I found Navionics to be fairly reliable for depth countours and GPS position. However, a little short on bouy and other navigation data.

I use a map called "hot spots". I found them at a local bait shop, yet I think companies like Gander and REI sell them also.
The sportsmansconnection.com looks like a good set of maps also.

Re: Fishing Hotspot maps

After reading this post I got all excited about the fact that I may finally be able to find a map that shows Hot Spots!
BUT as usual no luck.. I don't understand why I can not find anything for Mass.
Is it that we do not know how to fish, therefore it is not worth the time to make any?
Sorry for the rambling but it drives me nuts!

Re: Fishing Hotspot maps

For MA you should try :US Recreational Lakes and Hotpots North East,by Garmin. It has all the MA lakes and ponds with depth lines and it has Quabbin reservoir with different fishing areas and hotspots.
You can get the CD or the cartridge that goes into a garmin gps. Garmin has another cartridge for the shoreline from Maine down to well south of Buzzards Bay.
