What do fishing clubs give back?

Do fishing clubs really help the local fishing envirnment. Not on an ecological bais, but on a social basis?

To understand what I am asking and suggesting you will need to read the full post at the link above. Well, maybe some of you are so in tune you don't need my further explanations to understand what I am asking.

Re: Fishing Clubs and the General Public

Here in Hawaii the fishing clubs are a good start for beginners. You get to meet more experienced fishermen who will to a large degree share local area knowledge with you once they get to know you. Just getting acquainted with them is a big advantage since they will share stuff with someone they know way more readily than with a stranger. And if you breakdown out on the water, they'll also come get you more readily. If the club holds a "young gun vs. old fart" tournament, they will try to outfish your butt, but it's all in good fun, for bragging rights.

Re: Fishing Clubs and the General Public

well thar bob,
lets enlighten you about what most b.a.s.s clubs do for children, handicaped people, and the constant battle against such activist groups as peta, and lets not forget to mention the numerous times most local bass clubs fight for the cleanup and restoration of thousands of lakes, streams ,and rivers all thruout the country,

while most people are still freezing in their homes in the colder months of feb, march and april (at least here on the northeast) many local bass clubs aid in the stocking of trout ,bass, and other species in local water ways, and they hold many fund raisers thruout the year to aid local charities as well as holding many many casting kids events, handicap events, and other events for folks who cant do outdoor activities without the help of these men and women who for the most part are volunteering their weekends to do such activities.

as for the questioning of what benefits a club can offer to someone with little or no knowledge of fishing, its basicly the same as anything else one would venture into, you get exactly out of it what you put in to it, most of these guys/gals who win tournaments consistantly all began as novices at some point in their club careers and i would have to say,i guess if they are constant winners, they garnered some pretty good knowledge from the club(s) that they have joined.....

so in my opinion,i would say clubs are a definite help to anyone interested in joining and becomming a part of a comodery of all else in the with the same interests...

mike
