Actually I just use the whole Cabelas catolog as a barometer..., allow me to explain.

If I look throught the catalog and find something I want provided I have the budget I order it and then go fishing while I await it's arrival. If the budget does not allow it then I just go fishing and dream about having one. Works everytime, I figure if I ever pick it up and cannot find something I want then I proabbably ought to give up fishing.

Is Airfare included in my complementary fishing trip?

A couple of months ago the "in-fisher man" magazine published some studies and opinions about weather influences on fish and fishing. It is a known fact that fish will bite just before a cold front.Nobody really came up with a valid reason why. Fish can go up and down in the water thereby moving through different pressure areas with little or no bad side effects. The conclusion was that it is not the fish that is effected by different pressure. Plankton on the other hand seems to be quite effected and thereby the food chain.
So yes there is a connection between fish biting and airpressure, but in rather a circumspect way.

I have had a fishing Barometer for over 35 years. My unit says Raiseing pressure or high pressure fishing best. Falling or low pressure fishing the worst.

Cabela's new unit says Rapid change in either direction fishing good. Raising fishing is best. Falling good at first then poorer and poorer. Static fishing is poor. Low pressure fishing is poor.

I can say Black Bass when a low presure cold front come in the bite turns off and the fish go deeper.

For catfish Low pressure cold front and the bite turns off probably because they are more active in warm water, but if the stream starts to rise then the bite turns back on. I think this is because of all the bugs and worms that end up in the water, but then again in my area it can be two to three days before the water raises or about the time the pressure raises.

For Sturgeon When the water gets muddy the bite turn on.

Salmon and Striper when the water get muddy the bite turns off.

Bottom line NOBODY KNOWS.
