Fishfinder not working

Recently purchased a new boat in the fall and it came with a Hummingbird Fishfinder and a separate depthfinder. The depthfinder works perfectly fine. The fishfinder will turn on for a split second and then turn off. The fact that it does turn on, tells me it's getting some sort of power from the battery, maybe not enough....I'm trying to determine if it's the fishfinder itself, the transducers or lack of power. Debating whether to just get a new one in the spring, or play around with it and fix it.

Cheers!

Forgot to add that the previous owner said when he installed the fishfinder, the RPM gauge stopped working too.

Re-connect the wiring leads to make sure they are correct.and check any splices..re splice those also.

Run a voltage check..many of the newer sonars are voltage sensitive..thus make sure you are getting the proper voltage to the unit.

After ensuring the battery is charged perform a load test on the battery. It also sounds as though the unit may be connected to the ignition circuit. If it is, reroute to a primary power source and be sure to install the proper fuse for the system. You may want to ensure the tachometer is getting power and the sending wires and grounds are connected properly
