Took a close friend out Bass fishing yesterday, water temp about 55. Started right off with a deep diving crankbait and the second cast had a strike. I mean "I had a strike"!!! I almost lost a rod before I could get the drag losened! I knew right away It was no Bass. Turned out to be an 18# Coho Native Salmon. Cant keep them in this lake. I no sooner had this one released than my buddy had one on, his would go about 20#s. We quickly hooked another 15 Salmon in about two hours. Man did we have fum on our Bass poles. Only down side was that we lost abought $20.00 worth of Crankbaits. Some can be repaired, but all of them need new hooks at least.

Very nice, any good fish fight is a good thing, regardless of flavor of fish...

Here ya go! My buddy Rick.

We only caught two that were red, the rest were very fresh and bright, some still had sea lice on them. We shook all of them off at the boat except this one which was all wrapped up. They all swam away. Its only about a five mile swim into the lake from the ocean..

Remember, we were Bass fishing, we just couldnt keep these buggers off. :)

Re: Fish on!!!

Sea lice are little critters about 1/4-1/2" long that attach themselves to the Salmon in the ocean. When the get into fresh water, the fish try to knock them off by jumping. They (the lice) die in fresh water and I think they must itch or something. It takes about a week for them to fall off. (So Ive heard).
