I am going to get a new FF and am looking for suggestions. I need one that will see the bottom down to 800 feet in the salt water. I don't expect to see fish at that depth but I have to see the bottom. I am thinking about the Furuno 4100 or 6100. I have to go with an LCD unit due to space limitations. Is there anything else I should look at. Thanks

Re: fish finder

You need a 50khz transducer and at least 500 watts of RMS power or 4000 peak to peak power. Also if you have a choice of 50KHZ transducers take the one with most narrow Cone Angle. Furuno makes some of the best saltwater units.
