I have a lowarance x85 graph that is working, but poorly. Some of the pixels are not displaying correctly and the screen looks to be mis-sized, just a touch. It is reading the bottom.

The transducer seems to be working but again it is the display.

Does anyone know what causes this and if it can be fix?

Can't really afford a new at the moment. If I were to take it appart, can anyone offer sugguestions as to what to look for?

Thanks a bunch in advance!

I wouldn't take it apart. Before you do ANYTHING, call Lowrance ( it is a free call). The following is from their website:

"Lowrance Electronics has always taken pride in our commitment to customer service and the ability to repair our equipment for an extended period of time. We offer a flat rate repair for current production units and are committed to service out of production units for as long as possible. However, due to the rapid advancements in technology of consumer electronics, components can quickly become obsolete and unavailable. This affects our ability to repair our units. For current repair rates please Contact Us by filling out an online form or call Customer Service at 1-800-324-1356. Canadian customers, please call 1-800-661-3983."

Re: Fish finder display problems

Opening the case will reveal a circuit board with a whole bunch of integrated circuits. Without logic diagrams and theory of operation you don't have a clue about what's what. And even if you did now what's defective, these are not off-the shelf parts so the only source is the Manufacturer. Chances are the display is defective. The fix is to replace it. Probably at a cost that is nearly as much as a new locator. If it is the circuit board, those are not generally repaired -- they are replaced. Again, the only source is the manufacturer.
