Fish and Ski Owners?

Just bought a 1991 HS F/S 170 for me and the family.

We're really enjoying it so far, but it sure seems heavy. I posted a message on the trailer forum about reducing the tongue weight a bit. It bent the bumper down and is VERY heavy even on the shortest transom saver setting.

Anyone else have trouble like this? How did you solve it?

Thanks,

I do not know what a transom saver is except for somthing that goes between the lower unit and trailer roller, but I'd try moving the winch mount aft.

Thanks,

I would invest in a reciever hitch. Bumpers today are really not meant for towing. To move the axel is going to be a large amount of time and needs to be accurate. Your measurements need to make the wheels square to the tow vehicle and you will be doing alot of grinding, welding, and cursing. Better just to move the winch back a foot or so, or start looking for a better trailer online, like craigslist.

i have a 1990 185 f/s it is very heavy at the front when on the trailer. i can lift the front by myself but just barely. I always use the jask. Your boat does look like it has a different top cap than mine.
