I need to know what year Honda marine made a 50 hp four straoke outboard.<br /><br />help

Must have been mid to late 1980's<br />because i know they made a 45 hp prior<br />to the 50 hp model.

They didn't have a 50 until the mid 90's

I thought the first year of the BF50 was 1985 so I looked at my repair manual and it includes model year 1988. <br /><br />So 1988 is the first year of production for the BF50.

That BF50 was a 5 hp It's a little confusing, but Honda added a zero to it's model numbers for a few years. And it was 1995 when the 50 hp replaced the 45 hp.
