I've got a 1988 25 hp evinrude outboard, and am going to try to replace the impeller ths weekend. I've done a lot of searching online (this website, youtube, etc), so I figure that I have a rough idea of how to get going with it. Does any one have any suggestions or warnings for me to heed as I give it a try? I'm pretty good with a hammer and nail....but this mechanical stuff is another story.....

thanks, Mike

Shouldn't be to hard for you, do you have a manual?
You have to unhook the shift linkage behind the water intake screens, remove the bolts holding the lower unit on and it should come off.

When you seperate the connector behind the screens you'll find a little black ring on the shift rod. Spead it with a small screw driver and remove it. Other wise the l/u won't come off.
