We woke this morning with about a half inch on the ground, a dusting. It snowed lightly all day. I didn't leave the house, no need to. Wife is on afternoons and took the truck, I called her a woose. She's Canadian, an inch scares you hun? Well I looked outside on the deck just now and the snow is coming down hard, about 9" and counting. The satelite shows a wide band of rain and snow coming right over us and goes as far south as Arkansas (I never found out why it's a saw not a Kansas). I called to remind her how to put the truck in 4 wheel drive. Lucky she's a lot smarter than me is., thankfuly.

I have relatives that moved from Western NY en mass to Atlanta years ago. There was a funeral in January one year that they flew in for. The rental cars they returned were not in the same condition that they got them. They have all forgotten how to drive in an inch of the white stuff. Around here I think people forget how to drive in winter from 1 year to the next. What did we do before everyone had to have 4X4 and "winter" tires? Actually I do come to think of it, I got stuck a lot and carried a shovel in the boot and went through a few tranny's and clutches. Especially in the VW Beetle.

Beetles where tanks in the snow. A pair of snow tires and you had the equivalent of a modern day 4 wheeler.

Bought my first 4 WD vehicle in 1984. Have not been stuck since, unless I wanted to be...temporarily ;)

Who forget to pay the heating bill up here (Hamilton) ? It was 57 degrees when I left the house and 9 degrees when I got back to the hotel from dinner last night.

Hamilton, thats the tropical zone of Ontario. Its been snowing all day up here, thank god its been light otherwise we would be buried big time. Will have to go over and show my b.f. widow how to run the new honda he bought last year.Due to a non-exsistant back all i can do is very light snowblowing but at least i got the atv to plow with.

That happens with rain down here. Snow is a whole 'nuther level of "crazy."

I still do okay in it. I got stuck in one of those nasty snowstorms MN had last year driving back to Minneapolis and did pretty well ... maybe a little white knuckled, but not bad.

Down here, when it snows I think I actually get to work a little faster: traffic thins way out and I'm comfortable on what we have fall :smow: ;) :smow:

l.

Not if you dove into a few feet of snow and the front wheels were off the ground. A few concrete blocks or a big hunk of Willow tree in the front trunk helped.

We are 45 mins south of Hamertown on Erie. A different time zone but Hamilton is a mess. They move snow from the Bike lanes into the car lanes to keep bikers in winter safe.

Due to my back I call the guy. Charges me 20 or 25 bucks depending what mood he's in to clear our drive and pathway with his little tractor. The last few years I think I needed him 3 times. Depreciation on a new blower is 25 bucks a week I bet. Then you must fuel it, maintain it and USE it. Poor business decision.

Every day since Wednesday is a record cold here in Southern Ontario, that's in Canada where 90% of our population is within 100 miles of the US border, what a coincidence eh? . Seasonal temps should be from +7C to +12C. It's been -15C at night. I have no idea what that is in Umarecan. I know 32F is 0C and -40F is -40C. Metric actually is much easier once one learns it. 0 is freezing and +1 isn't. 20C is beautiful, 25C is hot and 30C is really hot. None of these numbers mean anything to me anymore. We have furnaces and AC's, even in some of our vehicles in Canada. We even have it some of our airplanes.
