Don,t know any thing about fiberglass boats this is a 1964 siren I just bought it. I looked over the boat good don't know how I missed it. If it wasn't on the bottom I wouldn't care. This boat is good shape all original stored inside all its life. The repair is about the size of a silver dollar is this something I should worry about or are these easy to patch up.

Silver dollar size is not very large. Are you sure it is a fiberglass repair or is it possibly just a gelcoat repair?

Secondly: Fiberglass boats are really plastic, in older boats typically styrene polymer with glass fibers to reinforce it. A correctly executed repair will be almost as strong as the original material--doesn't matter where it is.

Thanks for the input the repair was left kinda ruff not sanded what steps are involved in smoothing and painting I have some auto body experience but not with fiberglass. I don't know any thing about gel coat and don't want to do any damage.
Thanks John

You will get the best input with a picture - - however Marine Tex is the best for small holes & gouges. It is available qant any marine supply store and I think at Home Depot.
