70 degrees today and spent a few hours on the Hudson River.

This was the earliest I've ever been able to get the boat in. No leaves yet, so scenery was sparse and not another boat seen on the river all day except for an occasional freighter or tanker. It was like our own private river :D

Docked in a bay, had a little vino and a store bought chef salad and actually got a lot of color from the sun.

Check out the video . . . click on the picture!

It is nice isn't it, I got out fishing Friday night.

It was really nice to open her up and cover some water then just bob for a couple hours.

I have been working 6 days a week and redoiing a bathroom so Friday was my 30th cionsecutive day of working so it was really nice to leave all that on the shore and just bob for ahile, even got a couple fish.

Had my hopes up friday as it hit 18 degress celsius (about 70 I think) up here as well. Was puttering around the yard thinking the water up here should be pretty much thawed if this keeps up....

Snowed all day and all night last night....

Need to move to florida...or something...I can't take this anymore.

Ya, it was great because the average temperature in this area of the Northeast is still 44 degrees in March.

That's why I already had all the equipment back in the boat, trailer cover buttoned down and all I had to do was fill the cooler, hook the car to the ball and off we went.

When I see weekends like 70 degrees I jump on them, because around here we can see some summer months a total wash out, when say it rains every weekend in June or July!

Today it's back in the 50s . . . glad I took yesterday to strike when the iron was hot :D

Note: be sure to make a check list of what safety equipment is "required" for your particular state for that first run. As many years as I've been boating I of course left the fire extinguisher and air horn at home :(

Oh ya, I forgot to add the Hudson River has a 6-8 foot tide. So when we got back to the ramp (no docks yet) I had to wade in up to my ankles to align the boat onto the trailer cause my bow line is only about 10 feet long. Normally, I would have backed the trailer in first and drove the boat up the trailer 1/2 way and crank it up the rest of the way, but there was no dock to tie up too while I went and got the car from the parking area. So another negative of early boating . . . the water tempurature . It was 42 degrees. Quite a shocker, I'd hate to go over into the water!
